Weight Loss Tips From 39 Year Old Woman Who Lost Over 60 Pounds In 4 Months

When you’re fat… I mean really fat… a lot of women like to stand near you. Apparently it makes them feel thin.

Hello. My name is Sheila Ungers and I’m 39 years old. And I used to be that fat lady everyone wanted to stand next to.

AS FAR AS I CAN REMEMBER, I WAS ALWAYS FAT

My weight was always the butt of jokes—by the kids at school, by strangers in the park and by my cruel, skinnier, degenerate cousins.

Instead of going to ‘real’ camps, I spent my summers at fat camps— yes they exist!

In my teens, my mom would put me on all these crazy diets from the 70s. Have you heard of the Grapefruit Diet, the Cookie Diet and the ultra popular Slimfast?

She had high hopes that I would lose all my weight before heading to college.

Well, that did not happen.

Instead, I would lose 10 pounds at a time for 3 weeks (and 4 if I was lucky) and then gained them all back. Just mere days after I stopped whatever diet I was on.

My weight continued to fluctuate well into my adulthood with the on-and-off dieting. At my heaviest I was 256 pounds.

IF I DIDN’T LOSE WEIGHT, I’D BE DEAD BEFORE 60

Just before my 37th birthday, I developed some serious health problems.

I had high blood pressure and my cholesterol level was sky high. I had trouble sleeping for longer than 3 hours at a time. To boot, my knees hurt whenever I stood for more than 5 minutes and I was showing symptoms of Type 2 diabetes.

My doctor bluntly told me, “If you don’t lose at least 80 pounds, I’m afraid you will not make it past your 60th birthday.”

On top of it all, I hated the way I felt. Each and everyday was a struggle—I had frequent headaches, I got upset and moody very easily and I had difficulty concentrating.

Being out of shape and a fat blob made even normal tasks exhausting for me — like bending over to pick up a pen while sitting on a swivel chair.

With the looming threat of death at an early age, I was more determined than ever to lose weight — once and for all.

I PAID FOR PROFESSIONAL HELP

I must have met with at least 12 nutritionists and fitness trainers before finding one that I felt comfortable with. And so, on June 9, 2016, I started my final weight loss journey with the help and guidance from Brian Flatt, a nutritionist, weight loss coach and owner of REV Fitness in L.A.

The weight loss program that Brian outlined for me was all about eating the right food in the right quantities at the right time.

Brian’s program had me losing all your extra body fat at first—and at the same time he had me learning to get my body back to optimum fat burning mode.

Once anyone does that, they’ll be able to eat all of their favorite food again—without gaining the weight back.

I may be oversimplifying Brian’s program a bit but in reality it was pretty simple —with the foods, herbs and certain supplements that I ate (and some foods that I gave up for a bit) my body turned into an optimal 24/7 fat burning machine.

MY WEIGHT LOSS RESULTS WERE NO LESS THAN SHOCKING

In the first week of starting the weight loss program with Brian, I lost a total of 8 pounds. I wasn’t convinced that I would continue to lose more weight after the first week nor was I convinced that the weight loss was going to be permanent one.

But I stuck with Brian’s program— and to my pleasant surprise, day after day, week after week, I kept dropping pounds. From the day I started to about 4 months after, I lost a total of 63 pounds.

I now weigh 147 pounds— just a tad more to lose before I reach my goal weight of 136 pounds.

At my last doctor’s visit, he gave me a clean bill of health – no more high blood pressure, no more high cholesterol, and all the symptoms of Type 2 diabetes have disappeared.

I sleep much better every night and my knees don’t hurt anymore. I have even taken up running—perhaps I’ll train for a marathon one day.

IT’S BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE I COMPLETED THE WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM

It’s been 3 months since I’ve stopped working with Brian. I’m proud to say that I have not gained any weight back during that period.

I attribute this to the fact that Brian worked hard to instill his knowledge (and provide the science behind it) on how our bodies work to gain and lose weight. When you fully understand this, you’ll know what to do to be healthy for life.

Even if you slip up once in a while and gain a few pounds here and there, you’ll know exactly what to do to get rid of it.

Just like when my job sent me to Tokyo for a couple months. I was able to take what Brian had taught me, ate like a queen in Japan and still continued to lose weight— albeit at a slower pace since I couldn’t read Japanese and didn’t always know exactly what I was eating.

Side anecdote: It was actually Brian’s grandfather, Graham Flatt who spurred Brian to enter the world of health and fitness. Graham Flatt had spent some time in Okinawa, Japan during World War II and discovered the secrets behind why Okinawan Japanese are one of the healthiest, skinniest and longest-living populations in the world—and he passed those secrets to Brian, which incidentally was the basis of the weight loss program he outlined for me.

MY “NEW” UNDERSTANDING ON HOW FAT LOSS WORKS – 6 RULES

Here are 6 fat loss rules that I learned from Brian. If you take nothing else from this article, just make sure really understand these 6 rules:

  1. Everyone gains weight by repeatedly eating too much over a long period of time. More specifically, by consuming more calories than your body needs day after day—and nothing else. Do not listen to your girlfriend when she tells you that eating chocolate cake will makes you fat on the spot.
  2. In order to lose fat, you need to understand that creating a calorie deficit over time is the universal driver of fat loss — there is nothing else that can take its place.
  3. But, you cannot starve yourself or exercise excessively just so you can create a calorie deficit to lose weight. Depending on your BMR, your body will need a minimum amount of calories for it to function properly and optimally. Once you find out what it is, you can plan your food consumption around that and lose weight accordingly.
  4. Carbohydrates do not provide any nutritional benefit to the human body. Unlike fats and proteins, carbs are not essential to the human diet— not the sugar, not the starch, not the fiber. Stay clear of them when you first start out your weight loss journey.
  5. Whoever says your metabolism slows down as you age is wrong! Brian showed me studies that suggest metabolism is largely based on our activity (or rather inactivity) levels.
  6. To lose fat (not just weight) it all comes down to understanding that all foods are not created equal. Some foods are better for fat loss than others. You have to find the foods that accelerate your weight loss and that will produce the quickest results.
MY WHOLE HEARTED ADVICE

Thinking back, I was always reluctant to seek professional help to lose weight. Maybe because it was the embarrassment of having to acknowledge to another person that I was actually fat.

Or maybe because I was in denial of my weight loss problems until my dire health problems surfaced.

Or maybe because I thought it wasn’t worth it because I could get all the help and answers by searching the internet and talking to my thinner friends.

But none of that got me anywhere.

What did help me lose weight at the end of the day (all those 63 pounds and counting) and kept me pain and disease free was my seeking help from a professional.

If you have struggled to lose weight in the past, and you have the means, I strongly encourage you to seek professional help— to give you the structure, the discipline and the know-how to lose weight for life.

BRIAN FLATT MAY JUST BE THE GUY TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT

Brian is an amazing person who is not only brilliant but also a natural teacher with a big heart. My life (and many others whom I’ve met) have been changed so much by Brian’s weight loss method.

Brian has recently formed a professional weight loss program on the basis of the healthiest, skinniest, longest-living Okinawan secrets his grandfather passed on to him— identical to weight loss regimen he outlined for me (and many others).

And Brian is currently on a mission to share it with women all across the world who have struggled with weight loss.

I would be remiss if I did not share Brian’s weight loss program with the many women I know that are still going through the struggles that I myself had gone through my whole life.

So, if you’re a woman who has struggled to lose weight, you owe it to yourself to watch Brian’s presentation, which you can find right here.

I really hope it has even a fraction of the impact on your life that it has had on mine because the information you’re about to learn has forever changed my life.
